Speaker: Mr. Daniel C. Tsang (Fulbright Research Scholar at Chinese University of Hong Kong Library)

Abstract:
In post-Umbrella Movement Hong Kong, how are the street occupations remembered and what has happened to the artifacts generated? And what about earlier protests? U.S. Fulbright Research Scholar Dan Tsang, based in Hong Kong, presents his research into the preservation of historical memory of protest culture in Hong Kong, and what “archiving” means for activists as well as archivists. He asks: Will archives serve as a future site of resistance?

Bio:
Mr. Daniel C. Tsang is a visiting Fulbright Research Scholar at Chinese University of Hong Kong Library, researching how protest culture in Hong Kong is being preserved. He is also an honorary research fellow at HKU’s Public Opinion Programme.
